How Title Case treats small words
In English titles, short articles, conjunctions, and prepositions stay lowercase unless they come first or last, or follow a colon or a period. The tool keeps these lowercase in the middle of a title:
- Articles: a, an, the.
- Short conjunctions: and, but, or, nor, for, as.
- Short prepositions: at, by, in, of, on, to, up, via, per.
Words with a hyphen get a capital on each part, as in "Well-Known". Everything else, including words like "with", "from", and "is", gets a capital. Style guides disagree on small details, so check the one your school or publisher uses. Names and acronyms that were already in capitals turn lowercase first, so review those. A phrasal verb like "set up" may need a manual fix.
camelCase, snake_case, and kebab-case for code
The three identifier formats remove accents, drop punctuation, and treat each line as a separate name. A name already in camelCase, such as "myCoolText", is split at the capitals first, so it becomes "my_cool_text" in snake_case.
- camelCase: variable and function names in JavaScript and Java.
- snake_case: variables in Python and column names in databases.
- kebab-case: web page URLs (slugs) and CSS class names.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert text to uppercase online?
Paste your text in the box and pick UPPERCASE. The result shows next to it, ready to copy.
How do I capitalize only the first letter of each sentence?
Pick Sentence case. The text goes lowercase, then the first letter after a period, exclamation point, question mark, or line break gets a capital.
Does Title Case keep "of" and "the" lowercase?
Yes. Articles, short conjunctions, and short prepositions stay lowercase, except at the start or end of a title or after a colon.
What is camelCase?
camelCase joins words with no spaces and capitalizes every word except the first, as in "helloCruelWorld". Programmers use it for variable names.
How do I remove accents from text?
Pick "Remove accents". Letters like é, ñ, and ü become e, n, and u, and the rest of the text stays the same.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, and the text is never sent, saved, or logged.
